Child and Family Counselling

Shivonne Cammell

Clinical Social Worker and Supervisor (AMHSW), Child and Family Counsellor, and Registered Play Therapist (APTA-RPT)

Hi, Welcome to my website.

I hope that the information here helps you with the answers you are searching for.

I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, specialising in Child and Family Practice and Play Therapy. I began my career working with children with Autism and their families. Over the past 12 years I have worked with children and families in Foster Care, Child Protection, Family Support Services and Counselling Services, building and enhancing my knowledge and therapeutic skills.

I have a strong interest in neurobiology and the impact of trauma on child development and emotional well-being. I am able to utilise my knowledge and experience to support children to recover from trauma and grief, develop resilience, enhance family relationships and adjust to new social circumstances in positive ways.

I currently provide Play Therapy and Counselling Services to children and their families, to assist with resolving emotional and behavioural problems. I work with kids using creativity and play to address social and emotional issues. I support children with anxiety and low mood, friendship and/or family issues, trauma, and neurodiversity (Autism and ADHD). I am passionate about working collaboratively with children and their families to improve their mental health, build self esteem and promote resilience.

I also focus on supporting their families in navigating the challenges of parenting. As a parent myself, I know first hand just how challenging parenting can be!

Please feel free to contact me for a confidential discussion as to how I can support your family.
